Communities
Several group chats under one roof, with an announcements room everyone in it can read.
A community is a set of group chats that share a membership and an announcements room. It is the answer to a club, a team or a course that has outgrown one thread but does not want a public forum. If you want a public forum instead, that is a Space. See What a Space is.
Making one
Creating a community requires Sapphire. Joining one never does, and everything you can do inside one is available on any plan.

What is inside one
- An announcements room, created with the community and readable by everyone in it.
- Up to 50 groups, either created here or existing groups you own and add.
- Up to 256 members, which is the same ceiling group encryption has.
- A name of up to 50 characters and a description of up to 512.
A group inside a community can be open to everyone in it, so members join without an invite, or stay invite only.
Running one
Admins manage the roster: adding and removing members, banning and lifting bans, removing a message, and adding or removing groups. Every one of those actions is written to an admin log the community can read. A founder can hand the community to another member and stays an admin afterwards.
