Trying a post out first
Post to strangers before you post to your followers, and promote it only if it earns the audience.
A trial post goes to people who do not follow you, and to nobody who does. It stays off your profile and out of every normal feed, so the people who already follow you never see the version you were unsure about.
Promoting it
If it lands, promote it. That moves it into normal distribution with a fresh timestamp, so it reaches your followers as a new post rather than as something already hours old and already ranked down.
If it does not land, leave it. Your trial posts are listed in Settings, then Trials, which is the only place they are collected.
Trials are on every plan, including Free. A trial is not a draft: it is published, to real strangers, and it can be replied to and reported like anything else.
