Disappearing messages

Set per conversation: off, 5 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days. The timer starts when a message is sent, and applies to everyone in the thread.

View once

Media sent as view once can be opened a single time and is then gone from the thread. The sender is told when it has been opened, and a screenshot in a view-once context is surfaced too.

Read receipts

Read receipts are reciprocal: turning yours off also means you stop seeing other people's. Turning them off requires Sapphire.

Muting

Mute a conversation for 8 hours, 1 week, 1 month or forever. Muting silences notifications; it does not leave the thread and nobody is told.

Themes

Fifteen chat themes are available per conversation, each a low-contrast tint rather than a colour block, so text stays readable.

DM context

DM Context, a Surf Vision toggle, shows where you left off when you reopen a conversation that has been quiet for a couple of days. It is off if you turn it off.
