Install Surf

Surf is a web app that installs to a home screen and then behaves like a native one.

There is no app store download. Surf runs at its web address, and installing puts it in the same places a native app would be: a home screen icon, its own window, and working push notifications.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Surf in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen.
On iOS, push notifications only work once Surf is on the Home Screen. This is an Apple platform rule rather than a Surf one.

Android

  1. Open Surf in Chrome.
  2. Accept the install prompt, or open the browser menu and choose Install app.

Desktop

In Chrome or Edge, use the install icon in the address bar. Surf then opens in its own window with no browser chrome.
