Topics and filters

Lean into or away from subjects, set a comfort level for what is shown, and bound the feed by language, country and network.

These sit behind Advanced in Settings, then Feed, in three tabs: Topics, Content Filter, and Filters.

Topics

Eight broad topic sliders, each running from less to more, and each expanding into its own sub-topics for finer control. The eight are Technology, Science, Politics, Entertainment, Sports, Lifestyle, Business and News.

A topic slider is a preference, not a filter. To remove a subject outright, mute it instead. See Muting and filtering.

Content Filter

Appropriateness has three levels:

Standard
The default balance.
Modest
Hides suggestive or revealing media.
Strict
Only clearly clean, unflagged content.

Alongside them are four switches: hide vulgar language, hide sensitive content flagged with a content warning, hide upsetting posts, and text only, which drops images and video entirely.

Filters

Language
One language, or all of them.
Country
Restrict to specific countries, or leave it open.
Who you see
Everyone, only people you follow, or only your closest connections.
Shorts in feed
How much vertical video is mixed into the main feed.
Who you see is a hard filter. Set to people you follow, nothing outside that set can reach your feed regardless of how well it scores.
