Verification and the check

The check means one person, one account. It is not a measure of importance, it cannot be bought on its own, and it is the same blue on every profile that has one.

Sapphire and above buy the right to verify. The plan alone lights nothing: the check appears once a verification actually passes, and it goes out again if the plan lapses.

Before you can start

Four conditions, shown as a checklist before anything is asked of you.

• A profile photo.
• A bio.
• An account at least 7 days old.
• At least 50 followers.

Accounts registered to a minor cannot verify, and an identity that has already verified another account cannot verify a second one. That second rule is the whole point of the feature.

What you provide

Your full legal name as it appears on government ID, your date of birth, and your country and region. The date of birth has to match the birthday already on your account, so verification cannot be used to quietly change an age.

The scan

A short liveness check: the screen asks you to turn your head four ways, in an order the server draws rather than the device. You hold each turn briefly, and the flow waits rather than guessing if the light is too low or your face is too far from the camera.

If it does not pass

You can try again. Attempts are capped at 5 sessions a day, and a session expires 10 minutes after it opens, so an abandoned run does not sit open. The reason a run failed is named rather than reduced to a generic error.

Impersonation monitoring

Sapphire Ultra is watched for accounts pretending to be it. The scan compares both the avatar and the display name, and it only raises something when more than one signal agrees.

That threshold is the point of the design. Thousands of real people share a first name, so a matching name on its own is never enough to accuse anyone. A finding needs a near-identical avatar as well, and it goes to you as a report to act on rather than to an automatic takedown.
